Standardized Specialty Exams (Pre-Licensure Baccalaureate)

HESI Exit exams are proctored exams that test the student's ability to critically analyze, organize and synthesize material learned in each nursing course.
  • The HESI Exit exams are administered during the final semester in the nursing curriculum.

  • All students must achieve a satisfactory score 900 or higher on the exit exam.

  • Failure to achieve a satisfactory score (900) will require documentation of remediation and consultation with remediation coordinator.

  • A score of 900 or above on the HESI Exit exams 1-3 will be required to graduate.

  • Failure to achieve the 900 on the exit exams will result in a requirement for remediation.

  • Students will have 3 attempts to achieve the 900 on the HESI Exit exam during the final semester of the senior year.

  • The cost of any attempt after the first three exams will be borne by the student.

  • Students who do not achieve a 900 score on the 3rd attempt of the HESI Exit Exam will be required to enroll in a 2 credit directed study the following semester.

  • This directed study will include required remediation assignments and activities. During this semester, students will take HESI Exit 4 and HESI Exit 5. A score of 900 or above on HESI Exit 4 or 5 is required for graduation.

  • Students who do not achieve a score of 900 or above on HESI Exit 4 or 5 will be required to enroll in an additional 2 credit directed study the following semester. This course will have required remediation assignments and activities. During this semester, students will take HESI Exit Exams 6 and 7. A score of 900 or above on HESI EXIT Exams 6 or 7 is required for graduation.
