Jessie L. Kamerer, M.S.N.
Director, Online Nursing Programs (RN-BSN, RN-MSN, MSN)
My name is Jessica L. Kamerer. I have over a dozen years of experience in healthcare, with an extensive background in nursing, education and technology integration. As the Program Director and Assistant Professor, Clinical for the Online Nursing Programs (RN to BSN, RN to MSN and MSN programs) in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences at Robert Morris University, I oversee these programs to ensure academic excellence, regulation and accreditation needs, and personally help support every online nursing student in meeting their educational and professional goals.
My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) specializing in Nursing Education from Walden Univeristy. I am currently finishing a Doctorate of Education (EdD) at Nova Southeastern University in Organizational Leadership. I also hold certifications as a Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse (RNC-NIC) and Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE).
I started working in healthcare when I was sixteen after earning my Emergency Medical Technician(EMT) certification and continued to work through various healthcare positions from a nursing assistant to nurse, to educator, and into leadership roles ever since. I understand our students and their demands of working full time while trying to advance your own personal, professional and educational goals.
My healthcare experience is in emergency, mental health, neonatal and high-risk obstetrics nursing. I started as hospital nurse educator and moved into higher education in 2008. I spent a number of years integrating simulation based learning in hospital and higher education curricula, using research and innovative technologies to improve educational outcomes and programs. I enjoy teaching in a variety of settings (clinical, traditional classroom, simulation and online programs) using technology and
engaging learning strategies to help learners comprehend complex material. I also enjoy working to help faculty and future healthcare educations in their professional development, and previous was the Director of Faculty Development at Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences. I currently enjoy serving as the Director of Online Nursing Programs at Robert Morris University to continue to pursue this with our students.
